It was an intense and active Tuesday at 1 Leaping Frog Studio – absolutely no Monday blues, in sight! But the architects were busy in brainstorming the interiors of the Ascend – a new, multi-storied bungalow project. The brief was clear, yet challenging: minimalist and fine luxury interiors, with a non-traditional, functional & holistic approach to the walls, ceilings, and floors!

Hence, traditional stone, veneer, and laminates were already ruled out. It was like a far cry from the regular hassles of cutting, fixing, and grouting work. Even normal painting didn’t quite sync in with the cohesive architectural vision. Plus, the owner ruled out all cookie-cutter designs, too.  Instead, he wanted something durable, customizable, and easy to install.

Thus, the architects zeroed in on microtopping. In fact, it was the only solution that offered a clear, lucid, and free-flowing pattern on the ceilings and designer walls.

And for this, they trusted the miracle workers from Decocon Pvt Ltd, Pune. The team literally swooped in, raced against the clock, and poured in 45 days of diligent team work. The result? They transformed the architect’s revolutionary vision to reality, with unmatched precision and quality, faster than anyone else could!

Here you’ll discover more details on how they achieved this brilliant feat.

  • The new interior design features microtopping for the walls, furniture, and ceilings, along with in-situ terrazzo flooring. Thus, it creates an aesthetically pleasing and functional space, just like the clients envisioned. Ascend Bungalow has an east-west orientation plan. The ground floor has all the essential areas: foyers, living room, kitchen, and bedroom. The first floor, in contrast, has the lounging. So, there are skylights, a chic bar area, dining space, powder rooms, and even a separate party & get-together kitchen upstairs.

Then, the second floor has the master bedroom and family room, while the third floor has the son’s bedroom and guest room. Microtopping is a common factor throughout all the levels, including in its walls, floors, and furniture, giving an elegant and sophisticated aesthetic to the interior.

Still, the question remains: why did the client go for microtopping? And why did he choose Decocon for the same? Well, let’s find out!

As mentioned before, the client wanted a flexible, yet easy to maintain flooring solution. And while tiles might seem the most affordable solution, they ain’t the most practical one.

Microtopping, on the other hand, is seamless, resistant to climatic conditions, and quite versatile, as it can be applied on floors, walls, and even furniture Moreover, it is cost-effective, making it the perfect choice for such a grand project.

But the question remains: why did the client choose Decocon for microtopping? Here are some of the additional reasons:

  • Ease of Customization: Microtopping Betoncire allowed the client to customize the flooring entirely as per his choice. He chose red for the exterior and beige for the interior. Plus, the client loved its seamless, joint-less finish.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Microtopping’s high durability, stain-resistance & UV-protection makes it extremely low-maintenance. With regular cleaning and sweeping, it can be kept in mint condition, aligning with the client’s busy and fast-paced life.
  • Versatility: Remember how the client wanted a uniform and minimalistic look? Well, microtopping is the only material that can be applied to the floors, walls, and even the furniture, making the client’s cohesive architectural vision a reality.
  • High Compressive Strength: The architects also chose microtopping for its high compressive strength; roughly around 4,200 PSI after 28 days of curing. So, it could handle the high foot-traffic and dynamic load easily.

Decocon Pvt Ltd. is a Pune-based company led by Mr. Ajay Singam. It specializes in production and installation of standard and customized microtopping and terrazzo overlaying systems. Here are the details:

  • Microtopping is basically a thin layered overlay of polymer modified cement. Manufacturers usually apply it in 1-3mm thickness, over almost any substrate under the sun. Plus, it’s super versatile and looks great on the floors, walls, ceilings, countertops and even in bathrooms — whether in your home or in a commercial space.
  • Terrazzo, on the other hand, is another trendy, but sustainable flooring option.  It’s made from a mix of cement and resin, along with recycled materials like stone, glass, and mother-of-pearl. So, it’s quite durable and looks seamless, stunningly decorative and functional.
  • Thankfully, Decocon manufactures both these systems. Hence, they can offer better customization on the colors, patterns, special effects (glossy/matte, cloudy or acid-stained, dual toned style and size of aggregates transition strip, etc.) for the ultimate designer freedom!
