Well, last week, I told you guys about why you should use neem oil for your garden. We studied the benefits, applications, methods & results in detail. But then, the last Saturday, I received a lot of mails asking about the best neem oil for plants in India. Some were concerned about the purity, some had doubts with the ingredients, while the rest wanted direct shopping links!

So, my team & I surveyed the market, tested over 15–16 neem oils for plants and noted the results. And here, we are presenting all of it in a blog, with ready shopping links for your reference!

  • You can choose the best neem oil for plants in India by checking its purity label, extraction method, brand value, certification & ingredient list. Simply avoid buying oils with “neem scent,” “neem fragrance,” or “neem powder” on the packaging.
  • Ugaoo, Chipku, Plant guard, Good garden co & Go garden provide some of the best neem oils for plants in India.
  • You’ll mostly get neem oil for plants between ₹425 to ₹700 per liter. However, the exact cost still depends on the brand value, additives & concentration.

Neem oil, as you all know, is the cold-pressed, extracted oil from dried neem seeds. It contains an active compound – azadirachtin, which basically tastes like a mix of garlic and sulfur. So, it repels insects, enriches the soil & boosts texture along with the other benefits listed below:

  • Pest Control: Neem oil disrupts the lifecycle & breeding of common plant pests like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies in the larvae stage itself. Plus, it also hinders their breeding, egg laying & feeding rightly.
  • Fungicide: So, neem oil literally strangles common plant fungus like powdery mildew, rust, club root & verticillium for healthier foliage & better fruit & flower yield.
  • Growth Enrichment: Well, neem oil eventually restores the nitrogen, phosphorus & other microbial activity in the soil. So, the best neem oil for plants will surely boost your plant’s growth, shine, foliage and yield!
  • The Water Hero: Apart from nutrition & insecticidal benefits, neem oil helps boost the soil’s moisture & water retention capacity. So, it eventually reduces evaporation and keeps the plants fresh in summer.

Most Indian neem oils, fortunately, are free from any additives, preservatives & aromatics. But even then Mr. Kotwal, our in-house plant expert, has curated some handy tips to help you choose wisely:

  • Purity & Extraction: Look for neem oils that are 100% pure and cold-pressed. These have the highest levels of azadirachtin, which is what keeps pests away. Just remember, you’ll need to mix it in a 1:10 ratio to avoid burning your plants.
  • Premixes: If you’re juggling a 9 to 7 job, pre-mixed neem oil solutions are a lifesaver—no need to fuss with mixing and diluting! Plus, many of them come with added nitrogen and phosphorus to give your plants an extra health boost.
  • Organic Certification: Always check for oils that are certified by the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC), Ecocert, or USDA. This way, you know you’re getting something authentic and free from chemicals.
  • Brand Value: Pick products from reputed brands like say UGAOO, Verdana, Bonide or Jusgro for more effective, tried & tested formulations.
  • Ingredient List: Always check the ingredient label on the back; Simply refrain from buying anything that says “neem scent,” “neem fragrance,” or “neem powder” on the packaging.

As I already mentioned above, most of the best neem oils for plants in India are pure, cold-pressed & free of additives. But even then, we’ve listed some of our favorite & tried & tested blends for you to check out:
